ON-DEMAND: ASYLUM EVALUATIONS
Evaluating factors concerning protection-related relief
Each year, thousands of foreign nationals arriving at our border or already in the United States apply for asylum, or protection from persecution. To be granted asylum, applicants must demonstrate that they have suffered past persecution or fear future persecution if returned to their country of origin. Those granted asylum have the opportunity to apply to live in the United States permanently, receive certain benefits, and be reunited with their family members.
A psychological evaluation can be crucial in corroborating the psychological impact of torture or persecution and to substantiate an application for asylum.
This training will detail the process by which one would evaluate the psychological impact of persecution and/or torture in an asylum seeker, including test selection and other culturally appropriate assessment procedures. We will then walk you through a step-by-step process to present your findings in a professional report.
